Wine News

We had a really great class at Harmon's Culinary Institute on Saturday- Rieslings from Around the World.  We had three new world and three old world Rieslings.  California-Trefethen, Washington-Columbia Crest, and Australia-Pewsey Vale.  We also had the Trimbach from Alsace,  Saarstein from Germany, and the Meulenhof from Germany.  The new world wines were all 2007 vintage.  The Saarstein was a 2004 and the Meulenhof was a 2005.  The cheeses we had were a french feta, Humboldt Fog, Tallegio, Mt. Tam, and Apricot Stilton.  According to our class participants, the winners of the evening were the Saarstein and the Meulenhof and the feta and Stilton.  Of course Chef Bob Bryant prepared an out of this world trout in a green-apple horseradish sauce, spicy Asian shrimp, and cajun chicken which trumped everything!

We are also having a class coming up on Sunday the 18th through University of Utah Lifelong Learning, which will be stellar- Wines of the small villages of the Cotes du Rhone!  Check it out, it will be fabulous with lots of great information.

Cheers!
Brooke and Sheral
